Description
The Enhanced Support Worker Program (ESWP) provides funding to licensed early learning and childcare facilities to support children with disabilities and/or additional needs who require a support worker to actively participate in the activities of the facility.
The program is intended to:
- increase the accessibility of early learning and childcare for children with disabilities and/or additional needs; and
- support the labor force activities of families with children with disabilities and/or additional needs.
Eligibility
Preschool aged child
The following eligibility criteria must be met to receive funding through the ESWP:
- the parent(s)/guardian(s) works or attends school/training.
- the child is enrolled in a licensed early learning and childcare facility; and
- the child’s initial application demonstrates a high need for support services.
School-aged child
The following eligibility criteria must be met in order to receive funding through the ESWP:
- the parent(s)/guardian(s) works or attends school/training.
- the child is 12 years of age or under, unless turning 13 during the school year.
- the child is enrolled in a licensed early learning and childcare facility; and
- the child’s initial application demonstrates a high need for support services.
